Howling Holidays, a fabulously fun fundraiser benefiting Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary, is scheduled for 8:30-11:30 a.m. Dec. 13 at the Hawaiian Paradise Park Activity Center.

Registration starts at 8 a.m. with music, followed by games, contests, silent auction, dog agility demonstrations, a flying disc competition, Comedy Canines Dog Show, kickball for dogs and their human companions, food by Hilo Coffee Mill and various vendors.

Howling Holidays is supported by local businesses donating special items for the silent auction, as well as fantastic prizes for entrants who raise the most sponsorship dollars for the fundraiser.

The dog-human companion team with the most sponsorships will win the first prize: a tour for two aboard Blue Hawaiian Helicopters; second prize is a zipline adventure for two offered by EcoSkyline Zipline Tours Akaka Falls; and third prize is a Captain Zodiac rafting adventure for two.

Before Dec. 13, entrants should ask friends, family members, neighbors and business associates to sponsor them and their dog with $10, $20, $50, $100 or more. The more someone raises to benefit the animals at Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary, the closer they get to winning one of the top-three prizes.

Doggie costume and owner look-alike contests, doggie games, demonstrations, a flying disc competition and a kickball game for dogs with human companions fill out the morning event.

Come enjoy the music and have your dogs photographed with Santa, and sample ono food while making a contribution to the Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary, a no-kill facility that is home to 75 dogs and 250 cats in Kurtistown.
